Two ounces Desalto, three ounces dry sparkling wine, a splash of soda over ice in a big glass. A wide strip of orange peel, expressed and dropped in. Bitter and bright and a little sun-warmed. The drink for the porch at three, when the heat has settled in for the afternoon and nobody's going anywhere.
